Funding
Continued funding for the Quake Prize is generously endowed by the Asian Institute.
[Community + Wiki] x Google = Prize
In addition to this the Asia Pacific Reader has installed Google Adsense onto the wiki. In doing this we are able to increase the amount awarded each year by directly funding the award with the means generated by use of the wiki. As the wiki is entirely community generated content, separate from the academic publication of the Asia Pacific Reader, the prize increases in proportion to the use value of the wiki.
Prizes
The Quake Prize presents awards in three separate categories, Journal
Article, Opinion, and Photo Essay.
The Journal Article category is awarded to the top submission to the East Asia Forum annual publication, as judged by the selection committee and consulted faculty in the area. Articles ranging from all subjects are welcome as long as they fall within the grounds of that year's call for submissions. Please refer to the East Asia Forum site for the official call for submissions and submission guidelines.
Inauguration of the Quake Prize
The Asia Pacific Reader is once again overjoyed to announce the creation of the Quake Prize to honour excellence in academic research.
The prize, which has been endowed jointly by the Asian Institute and the East Asian Studies Department, will be awarded to the top academic paper submitted to the East Asia Forum for publication each year. There will be accompanying prizes awarded in top photo essay, and top op-ed piece submitted for publication to the Asia Pacific Reader each year. The winners of these prizes will be published in that year's volume of the East Asia Forum.
